(FREMONT, Calif., August 31, 2000) -- Unigen, a leader in the design and manufacture of memory products, in partnership with OTP Software, a leading e-business integration organization, will soon launch, a B2C e-commerce website that will sell products to the multi-billion dollar microchip market. "Go Live" is expected to happen in early September. combines the best of leading-edge e-commerce technologies, including IBM's Web Sphere Application Platform on Oracle 8 with Sun Hardware to maximize flexibility, scalability, and reliability. Addtionally, IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite's open architecture will allow integration with other enterprise systems, including Unigen's Oracle ERP system.

Unigen's decision to use IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite for building and maintaining was not difficult to make. Besides delivering the number one e-storefront solution worldwide with over 5000 current implementations, IBM's WCS provides B2B as well as B2C capabilities that fit in well with Unigen's long-term e-business strategies. Implementations are fast, inexpensive, and battle-proven in comparison with other tier-one e-commerce storefront applications. WebSphere Commerce Suite, supported by IBM's R&D resources and customer commitment, includes functionality for international business, auctions, order management, catalog management, personalization, merchandising and payment. This summer, new capabilites will appear including negotiation/dynamic price discovery modeling options, RFP/RFQ (Request for Purchase/Request for Quotation) functionality, workflow enhancements and other features.

Unlike products from piece-part vendors, IBM's platform incorporates a complete selection of software to support core business processes and the integration of those processes with trading partners -- such as the buying and selling of goods and services. Through the MQ Series and WebSphere line of products, organizations can link web-based applications to their backend CRM, ERP, and SCM systems as well as to the systems of their trading partners. IBM products are designed to support the heterogeneous ensemble of different platforms and applications that compose systems within and between enterprises.

Unigen is a case in point. While implementation of the website is a crucial element in Unigen's channel and partner strategy, it is only one element. Leveraging the "virtual" power of Unigen's $1,000,000 Oracle ERP backend will also return dividends. As the first step in a series of planned steps, OTP Software has integrated IBM WebSphere with Oracle Applications, allowing Unigen to process orders made by online customers directly into its ERP system.

Further, IBM's end-to-end B2B solutions fit perfectly with Unigen's long-range e-business strategy. According to CEO, Paul Heng, " is a launch pad for our larger B2B e-commerce plans. We expect to engage and to lead in a range of deals with OEM's, VAR's, and resellers in the United States, Asia and elsewhere. We count on the IBM-Oracle internet solution to grow with us. And as both Companies are dedicated to open Java and XML standards, we envision our system becoming an increasingly important node in our economic-electronic network."

Unigen's search for and selection of an IBM-Oracle integrator partner was easy. OTP Software's consulting practice has the resources and a proven track record of providing superior IBM e-commerce/Oracle ERP solutions to mid-market companies. "We have IBM Net.Commerce Specialists and Oracle consultants on staff who have worked with Oracle Applications for more than ten years. We also have top Oracle database experts to run IBM Net.Commerce on Oracle 8 for maximum scalability." said Dan Leader, OTP Software's Partner/Head of Consulting "We have what it takes for the back office, the front office and for integrating them together to provide a true e-business solution. And we deliver value at prices the mid-market can afford."
